{"id":3194,"date":"2019-01-14T09:46:20","date_gmt":"2019-01-14T02:46:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kingkong-vietsu.com\/?p=3194"},"modified":"2019-01-14T09:46:20","modified_gmt":"2019-01-14T02:46:20","slug":"viet-nam-exports-us3-5-billion-worth-coffee-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kingkong-vietsu.com\/vi\/viet-nam-exports-us3-5-billion-worth-coffee-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Vi\u1ec7t Nam exports US$3.5 billion worth of coffee in 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3195 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/kingkong-vietsu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/cafe682104519AM.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"442\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>A farmer havests coffee in the Central Highlands province of \u0110\u0103k L\u0103k. \u2014 VNA\/VNS Photo Ph\u1ea1m C\u01b0\u1eddng<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Vi\u1ec7t Nam exported more than 1.8 million tonnes of coffee worth US$3.54 billion in 2018, marking year-on-year rises of 20 per cent and 1.2 per cent respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The average export price of coffee reached $1,883 per tonne, down 15.7 per cent versus 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Industry and Trade forecasts Vi\u1ec7t Nam will face difficulties exporting coffee in the first half of 2019 due to low global prices and declining domestic coffee output.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Vi\u1ec7t Nam Coffee \u2013 Cocoa Association, Vi\u1ec7t Nam\u2019s coffee output in 2018 declined by about a fifth due to the impacts of climate change and conversions to more high-yield crops.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Vietnam shipped 74,120 tonnes of coffee beans to Algeria alone, earning $132.48 million, up 56 per cent in volume and 28 per cent in value from 2017, the General Department of Vi\u1ec7t Nam Customs reported.\u00a0Coffee is the most popular drink in Algeria, with each person consuming more than 3kg of coffee annually. \u00a0The North African country imports about 130,000 tonnes of coffee beans worth around $300 million each year. Robusta coffee makes up more than 85 per cent of the total import value.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from Vi\u1ec7t Nam, the Ivory Coast, Indonesia, Brazil and Italy are also Algeria\u2019s major coffee suppliers.\u00a0Vietnamese Commercial Counselor to Algeria Ho\u00e0ng \u0110\u1ee9c Nhu\u1eadn said Algeria still had room for more Vietnamese coffee, which was expected to become the country\u2019s top export item to Algeria. In 2018, Vi\u1ec7t Nam\u2019s coffee export turnover to Algeria accounted for 68 per cent of its accumulated export value.<\/p>\n<p>Vi\u1ec7t Nam is now the world\u2019s second largest exporter of coffee beans and the largest robusta exporter.
