Many agricultural export companies have resumed work even before the end of\u00a0T\u1ebft\u00a0<\/em>(Lunar New Year).<\/p>\n Vina T&T Group\u2019s two processing plants in Ch\u1ee3 G\u1ea1o and Cai L\u1eady districts in the southern province of Ti\u1ec1n Giang began preparations on Friday to ship 23 containers of longan, dragon fruit and coconut to the US.<\/p>\n Sixteen containers of dragon fruit, each weighing 900kg, will be sent by air. The rest of the consignment, 36 tonnes of longan, 22 tonnes of dragon fruit and 50,000 fresh coconuts, will travel by sea.<\/p>\n Nguy\u1ec5n \u0110\u00ecnh T\u00f9ng, general director of the company, told\u00a0S\u00e0i G\u00f2n Gi\u1ea3i Ph\u00f3ng\u00a0<\/em>(Liberated S\u00e0i G\u00f2n) newspaper: \u201cIn fruit exports, transportation is very important, especially for preservation. Workers must work very early to ensure best quality of exported fruits.\u201d<\/p>\n Lavifood recently opened a fruit and vegetable processing factory in T\u00e2y Ninh Province and signed contracts to export frozen fruits like mango, dragon fruit and papaya to South Korea at the beginning of the Lunar New Year.<\/p>\n \u201cOur factory can process 60,000 tonnes of fruits and vegetables a year,\u201d \u0110inh H\u00f9ng D\u0169ng, its deputy director, said.<\/p>\n \u201cWith technology meeting the US\u2019s Lead Silver standard, our processed fruits and vegetables can retain their freshness and nutrition longer to create higher value and safety.\u201d<\/p>\n On Wednesday, the Vi\u1ec7t Nam Fruit and Vegetable Association sent a delegation to the German Fruit and Vegetable Fair to explore opportunities, and many German companies have expressed interest.<\/p>\n According to the association, exports of fruits and vegetables were worth US$3.8 billion last year and are expected to reach $4 billion this year and $5 billion in 2020.<\/p>\n China\u00a0is the biggest customer, buying 75 per cent of all exports.<\/p>\n \u0110\u1eb7ng Ph\u00fac Nguy\u00ean, general secretary of the association, said: \u201cThe Chinese market is becoming more and more difficult with authorities there asking for official exports with traceable origin.
