S\u01a0N LA\u00a0Mangoes grown in\u00a0Y\u00ean Ch\u00e2u District, the northern mountain province of S\u01a1n La, began being\u00a0exported to the US, UK, Australian\u00a0and Chinese markets on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a ceremony to announce the export of its speciality to the four key markets, provincial party secretary\u00a0Ho\u00e0ng V\u0103n Ch\u1ea5t\u00a0said the event would help promote\u00a0S\u01a1n La mangoes in other markets around the world.<\/p>\n

This is the first time S\u01a1n La mangoes have been exported to the US and UK, two selective markets with strict criteria.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was held as part of the Y\u00ean Ch\u00e2u Mango Festival 2019.<\/p>\n

The province sold 15,000 tonnes of mangoes in the first five months of the year. The export volume was more than 2,500 tonnes.<\/p>\n

With about 15,700ha of mango farms, output is expected to reach about 35,500 tonnes this year, of which the volume eligible for export\u00a0will be more than\u00a07,500 tonnes.\u00a0These numbers mark\u00a0significant\u00a0growth\u00a0compared to 2018.<\/p>\n

S\u01a1n La\u00a0is the fifth locality in the country following \u0110\u1ed3ng Th\u00e1p, V\u0129nh Long, An Giang and Ti\u1ec1n Giang and the first in the north to export mangoes to these\u00a0high potential markets.<\/p>\n

Vietnamese mangoes have been exported to 40 countries and territories worldwide, including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan (China), the EU, Australia, the US, the UK and Canada. It is the sixth fruit of Vi\u1ec7t Nam to be exported to the US, after dragon fruit, rambutan, longan, lychee and star apple.<\/p>\n

Y\u00ean Ch\u00e2u Mango Festival 2019 was\u00a0held from May 31 to June 2 with booths introducing local agricultural and handicraft products, as well as various activities\u00a0including a mango harvesting contest. \u2014 VNS<\/p>\n
