NHA TRANG
Nha Trang, the coastal city in the south of Vietnam, has arguably the best city beach Vietnam has to offer. Nha Trang is well-loved for the same reason: a beach perfect for a few-day-relaxation, where the sand stretches along the bay for 6km and for most of the year the sea is brilliantly turquoise blue.
The city also has the best nightlife in Vietnam outside of Saigon, with numerous bars catering to the budget and tourist market.Diving is also the main draw here. Close off-shore from Nha Trang sits a series of islands that offer decent diving and snorkeling. If you always dreamed of getting a scuba certification, Nha Trang is the best place to do it. Alternatively, swimming and snorkeling are just as easily enjoyed – simply hop on one of the many boat trips and savors the colorful sea life.If sunbathing or diving is not my bag, other attractions in the city and surrounding area include the scenic Ba Ho waterfalls, the relaxing mud baths and the impressive Po Nagar Cham Towers.
Further afield, Nha Trang is a perfect base to explore outlying places such as the secluded tropical oasis Whale Islands, the low-key spectacular Jungle Beach, and even the wild Central Highlands, Buon Ma Thuot, is just a bumpy 250km away. What makes Nha Trang win over the heart of many tourists is that it caters for all, from the 5 star high-end family holiday to the backpackers’ budget rest-place, from the long sandy beach to the crystal seas, and not forgetting the lively bar scene in the evenings. Don’t forget to try freshly caught BBQ seafood on the street, after all, seafood is also one of Nha Trang’s many highlights.
